I have been taking BS now for several years, off and on with mostly good results. After about a month or so it seems to be less effective so I stop for a while and then start back up again. Also, I assume that most of you know that taking a cash register receipt in your hand at a store is very problematic. The paper is coated with BPA which is very harmful for the prostate. I watched a video of a urologist being interviewed and asked what he recommends for his patients who have prostate issues. His answer was to never touch a cash register receipt from a store. I have been following his advice now for several years and it has helped.

I've taken a LOT of supplements in my life for a lot of different hoped outcomes. Almost no supplement lives up to the promise of having an immediate impact. I'd put beta sitosterol up there with creatine in terms of how fast and definitively it works.I had gotten to the point over several years where it was sometimes difficult to start or maintain a stream which is fairly serious. I had tried stinging nettle and saw palmetto and had very limited results (hard to tell if they worked at all really). However, literally within one week of starting beta sitosterol I was almost back to completely normal in terms of flow. It exceeded every one of my expectations in a big way. I never thought a supplement could get me back to very nearly normal functioning.Right now the way i am using it is one capsule first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I also take one saw palmetto pill at night (because i had already been doing that). I have no idea if the saw palmetto is working synergistically with the beta sitosterol or not. When I run out of saw palmetto I'll probably stop taking it and then see how my symptoms go. If I have to add it back I'll update my review.So far this is, by far, right up at the tippy top of the list of most effective supplements I have ever used. It has dramatically improved a situation that was getting progressively worse over time.

Tried and greatly appreciate it for BPH (male urinary obstruction). I have not compared it with other brands since it has been lab tested as noted in other evaluations. But to be fair recent lab tests have also approved other brands. Have to assume the benefits will be similar.I usually measure voiding volume to see what foods or supplements affect this condition and saw that there was a rare, sudden 25% increase in volume which I traced to the times I used Beta-sitosterol. It worked quickly for me--same day or two or so. Have been taking only one per day in the morning which seems to give maximum benefit but will have to revisit to see if a larger dose or different times will make even more of a difference. Most likely, each person will have to test what works best for their particular condition, weight, diet etc. I have taken with food because it has some vitamin C which affects my GERD (acid reflux). However, it is a low dose of "C".Please note that one reviewer said his doctor suggested taking it on an empty stomach if used for BPH so that is worth testing with and without an empty stomach.Any improvement will greatly effect a better quality of life with this condition. I don't have a minor problem so this is more than a great improvement.For those who have not tried this yet, I would encourage a trial like I did--an actual regular measurements of the volume passed during normal urges to see if the volume increases by a couple or more ounces after starting the pill. Of course, it may benefit in other ways such burning, frequency etc. I don't know how long it would revert to prior functioning status--am not that much of scientist to want to try.If you find out more be sure to take time to pass on your findings to rest of us. Reliable sources online -- ConsumerLab and others -- have pointed out that Beta-sitosterol supplementation has two uses and with very different recommendations as to the issue of whether to take the capsules with or without food. Here is the answer: for cholesterol reduction, take with meals; for reduction of symptoms of enlarged prostate, take on an empty stomach - meaning about 2 hours before or after eating. I learned this important advisory information only after almost completing my first order of this product, taking the capsules with meals. So now I will purchase a second bottle of 90 capsules and follow the advice about taking the capsules on an empty stomach with the hope that the BPH symptom reduction is more effective than the meager results I've had so far.

There are no benefits specified, but the implied benefit is for prostate health. So you're probably considering taking this for an enlarged prostate, or for no particular reason. I took this product every day for 4 months and made the following observations. First, it has an odd, unpleasant side effect that men will not like. More importantly, it has no effect on an enlarged prostate. My prostate scans in September, then February showed no reduction of the enlarged prostate. Purely coincidentally, in this short 4-month period I went from a normal heart to a dangerously enlarged heart. There is no reason to consume this product.
