Definitely will buy again!
Pretty good! Easy to wash as well, with only a few rinses. I have a 10 gallon tank and the smaller portion pack was just enough to cover the top surface evenly, with extra left. I have another sand substrate as well at the bottom of the soil so if you don’t have another layer of substrate i recommend getting another bag or the bigger portion rather than the 4lb. The soil balls were a a tiny bit larger than the other substrate soil brands ive seen. But overall they do a fine job with my plants and fish. Pretty good for the price! Overall recommend this substrate for a beginner getting into fish keeping or anyone just looking to start a planted tank.

My preference over Fluval
I’ve bought this several times. I like it more than the fluval stratum because this one doesn’t cloud my tank like fluval stratum (no matter how gently I add water the fluval aqua soil makes the whole tank a dark dust cloud for days until it settles or gets filtered out).I also like the shape of this aqua soil more than fluval’s as well because it’s uniform and adds a cool circular texture. It’s also cheaper than fluval stratum. It’s my go to when I want aqua soil.I will say that if you are going to cap with sand use lots of sand because it will work its way up on top of sand substrate. I literally have a tank where I capped this aqua soil with some layers of sand and after a few months all the aqua soil balls are sitting on top of the sand.

2 bags for 10g tank
Good product held my plants nice and sturdy, I should have done more research its my first ecosystem build I thought one bag would be enough for a 10g tank but it wasnt so just get two bags if your building a 10g tank

Seem to be working
I apparently put this substrate in 2 aquariums of mine, one being a 5 gallon. I used one bag and the other being a 30 gallon. I used 3 bags. I think it's working pretty good. The 30 gallon doesn't have any plants in it yet. The 5 gallon does seem to be thriving, but I'm also kinda new So what do I know. for the price i paid for it, I enjoy. It seems to be nice.I will say the three bags of this stuff took forever to rinse off. The one bag for the 5 gallon wasnt bad at all and had I had a better application to do so, and not a 5 gallon bucket in my bathtub it may have rinsed better and not taken as long just something to keep in mind.

Great for paludariums
Original bag came with a hole but Amazon was very quick to replace. Very pleased with the prompt customer service. This is a great product. My plants are already doing really well and they've only been planted for a couple days. I'm excited to sprout some aquarium grass in this substrate. I've had good experience with it in the quality seems just as nice.

Dosen't cloud water after you rinse it off.
I love this substrate the balls are small not big and tacky looking give them a rinse and pop them in no clouding or discoloration holds new plants well but easy to move thru it for fish like loaches definitely my new go to over gravel sand ect.

Love this!
I have a couple small aquariums set up with this for plants and shrimp, with a fine sand over top. Plants and shrimp still get the benefit of this substrate. Plants do much better, and helps with water perimeters for the shrimp. I got more to set up another small tank. You can also use in larger tanks. Its a dark color, finer texture than small gravel, easy to use. This bag is a great value for the price!
