SwissGear Sion Softside Expandable Luggage, Burgundy, Checked-Large 29-Inch

I bought two of these large suitcases to take on an upcoming trip. They seem to be very nice. The wheels are most important and the wheels on these seem strong and well-placed. They are big enough…I have been able to pack everything I want to take. I love the color. Not a red…forgot what the actual color is but I think it will be easier to spot on the baggage roundabout at the airport. The zippers seem just fine. I like the added pouches on front for last minute items. These seem sturdy, roll beautifully, size is great, color is very nice and the handle works perfectly. They arrived very quickly. We have used our Samsonite for years and alas, a wheel broke on a recent vacation. After many years of use…the pieces were looking well worn. It was time to buy new. I hope we have many years of use out of this luggage.

I got this set when it went on sale and it was such a great deal!! It seems durable and looks sharp. Correct sizing for check-in luggage so that's great. I wanted luggage which I can bring home big boxes in. It's so nice to close the lid and zip it up instead of adjusting and try to close the luggage that has a zipper in the middle. I took it to Japan and it still looks brand new! I know this brand is very durable and high quality! It is a very sharp looking set! Rolls so easy! highly recommended.

I recently traveled using a hard side piece of luggage. Upon arrival in my stateroom and unpacking I noticed the case had received substantial damage to both top and bottom corners on one side.; three cracks in the suitcase. I debated buying a new piece of luggage for travel home but opted to buy a roll of duct tape to mend inside and out. Upon arriving home I researched many soft side expandable pieces of luggage and read hundreds of reviews. I chose this 25” piece in black because it had many positive reviews, was on sale at $40 less than same piece of luggage in several colors. I recieved this piece today and inspected it thoroughly. There was absolutely no visual damage. All the zippers worked with ease. Wheels rolled easily across both wood floors and area rugs. The telescoping handle raises to two positions but wish there was a third lower option. I’m 5’5” and the settings are a bit high for me to roll comfortably at my side; however, I can always pull it behind me. I can also easily maneuver along side me by simply holding the top handle that’s used for lifting. This seems to be well made and I feel sure I’ll get several years of service for travel. And, the black matches a carry-on piece I already own.

I took this on a 10 day European trip and it did better than expected. It fit in all airline overhead bins in America and Europe. Using vacuum bags, I was able to get 10 sweaters, 4 jeans, 1 pair of snow pants, and had extra room in the internal compartment for socks and other necessities. I even bought a light weight coat in Italy that we were able to fit in this suitcase for the trip home. Zippers are sturdy. The wheels showed signs of wear but this was after being dragged on the streets of Rome for over 30minutes. The handle held up well but does seem to be more on the flimsy side. However, it handled well through the trip with a personal bag hanging on top. Overall would recommend this carry on with large internal capacity!

This SwissGear luggage is exactly what I needed for long trips. It’s lightweight, durable, and very roomy — the expandable feature is a big plus! The wheels glide smoothly, and the handles feel sturdy. I also love all the extra compartments that help keep things organized. Stylish, functional, and built to last — highly recommend!

I’m so glad to have found this large quality soft side luggage at a very affordable price! I had used Samsonite soft side luggage before, but bought a large hard shell when the soft side was wearing down after a decade of use. The hard shell turned out to be a mistake. It was harder to pack, suffered damage to its wheels because of its oversized height, and finally was shattered at a corner that included one of the wheels! Fortunately the Oceania cruise ship had someone who could expertly glue it back enough for the return flight. So I bought a Swissgear unit for checked baggage. I couldn’t be happier! On a recent trip it suffered no stress or damage through six airports and 3 cruise ship handlings. It was easily maneuverable, easier to pack, held as much if not more than the hard shell, and included a waterproof pouch for sundries.

I am a frequent cruiser, this bag is all I need for. 4 night or 7 night cruise. It’s very sturdy, the color burgundy makes it easy to find. It has a couple pockets on the outside, which I found very handy. Rolls easily, and handles my crazy packing.

As pictured and expected. 25in purchased. Perfect size for a step up from the smaller carry on. Looks great. Will see durability on upcoming travel. You can not be rough with the zippers or the handles. Take your time zip/unzip and extending handle. The wheels seem ok. Not as fluid but workable. 10 out of 10 for looks. 8 out of 10 on quality. Zippers clasp and handle are on the plastic side. Materials are a step down from over higher priced bags but didnt want to spend more than 100.
