This made it so easy to start making my own kombucha. After reading a ton of articles on how to make it, I decided to try this starter and let it form it's own pelicle and it worked perfectly! I'm now on my third batch (1 gallon), and have a scoby jar constantly going so I can make a new batch whenever I want: I just throw the pelicles in a gallon jar about half full of starter each time I am ready for a second ferment.The instructions are easy and clearly written, and my kombucha has tasted fantastic! If I ever end up needing another starter, I would 100% buy this again.

I was skeptical because of past experiences with other starters. Because I'm in the middle of a move, the bottle I bought sat in the refrigerator for over 6 months. I finally decided that I better do something with it or toss it. 2 weeks ago I mixed up a batch, not really expecting it to do anything because it's been so long. IT GREW! There's a healthy pellical mat forming in the jar! I can't wait to start brewing!

The bottle was somewhat collapsed and had leaked into the outer packaging. And the packaging was blown up like a balloon.The item should be replaced.

After reading the reviews I took the jump knowing that customer service was pretty active to other issues people had. I am currently on day three and it’s alive!!! No SCOBY was used, just the bottle that arrived, tea, sugar and water. I’m really excited as I see it actually giving off lots of bubbles and growth happening on the top! Really excited. So far, so good.

The media could not be loaded. With 6 to 7 years brewing experience, I know all you need is starter tea.The bottles arrived, I opened the bag and placed each separately bagged bottle on the counter. Yes, the bottom of each bottle bulged, as expected. Good sign of healthy tea! And it smells very healthy!!I continuous brew in a large dispenser with a spigot.I used both bottles (16oz each) following the recipe for 1 bottle. I like to keep it strong while introducing different water, different sugar, new environment. In a week I’ll add the other gallon of sweet tea.Added a picture my brewing of vessel & one taken after 5 days; good healthy formation of the “scoby/mother” ph was 3.0. So I added the 2nd gallon of sweet tea. Happy brewing!Update 3 weeks later I’m now enjoying my fizzy sparkling brew fight from the tap! Thankful I found your product!

easy to do !minimal cost to start !Taste good on own .I used My co2 soda stream to make it fizzy , just like it more that way !You put the kombucha in the soda stream and do it that way , don't put carbonated soda into the kombucha !Save money and know it's not old or have additives .and it's just fun to make !

I have purchased this product twice. The first time I purchased it, I had been given a small SCOBY from a friend with no starter kombucha, so I ordered this to get my first batch going. The SCOBY grew beautifully and we had great Kombucha for over a year until I accidently broke my jar and lost the SCOBY. This second time, I did not have a SCOBY and followed the directions for a starter batch. Unfortunately, no SCOBY grew and I was left with a patch of mold on my tea. I did try to email the company, but after a week, I have not received a response so am leaving this review.

It just took a little longer than my own butch to colonize the tea, but it was within the 2 weeks stated in their instructions.
