It does not need to be refrigerated. We do recommend, though, that you keep the container closed tightly and that you do not pour used bacon grease back into the container. The little pieces of food that mix in with the grease can spoil and contaminate the grease. Hope that helps!

Q: Is it in a plastic container?

Yes, it is in a plastic container. I didn’t find the container acceptable at all, but I just poured it all into a mason jar with a screw top. So easy to use and the product is wonderful. I will be buying again.

Yes it is. And it’s fresh. No rancid taste or odor. I hate having to buy bacon grease but I don’t fry enough bacon to have enough grease with it being just the two of us. And you can’t make good corn bread without it.

FROM THE BRAND: (Note that some of the other answers from consumers may include some information that is not quite correct.) Bacon Up is authentic bacon grease. BHA, an anti-oxidant, is added to protect the flavor and is the ONLY thing added to the bacon grease. However, note that the bacon itself may have been cured with any number of ingredients for added flavor, including possibly salt, sea salt, potassium chloride, sugar, brown sugar, smoke flavor, sodium diacetate, sodium phoshates, sodium ascorbate, sodium erythorbate, dextrose, or sodium nitrate. These do not generally pass through to the grease, though, and no carbohydrates, sugars, or sodium are reportable on the statement of Nutrition Facts. Hope that helps!!

A great find

Love this. I don’t eat much bacon but love to add just a bit of grease sometimes in my cooking. This makes it easy and the little wooden spoon that came with it is just great!

Yum bacon grease that’s not overwhelming

It’s great to have triple filtered bacon grease immediately available vs storing up and filtering yourself. The food I cook with it tastes much better than self-filtered and stored bacon grease. Why? Because the taste isn’t overwhelmingly bacon, the food flavor is more apparent.
