Good for Volkswagon

Because this is a narrow profile, it fit on my 2006 VW Jetta and it works great. The 125W is plenty for normal cold, but extreme conditions it may be a little light. But I have a 250 W unit and it vibrates with power, its scary hot, so I think this is better than that. You just have to have the right expectations and it will be fine.

Not Hot, but Warm...When It Worked

I had thought that this pad was going to revolutionize my winter truck starts. It had so much promise. It seemed like the answer to my cold cranking winter starts. So, I decided to purchase this over Katz because it had a three prong, great directions, and seemed like the right product for my application of putting on my oil pan to warm the oil in the cold winter. I knew that 125 watts is not that much, so I was not expecting a warm truck, just better than the world around it.The installation was easy. The directions were fantastic and easy to follow. It comes with all the needed materials except some sandpaper to remove the paint. I did add a few zip ties to make sure that it was secure while I drive because two just isn't enough. The first time I plugged it in for about an hour before I left. Got under the truck and touched it, not too hot to a bare hand, about what I expected from 125 watts. Warm, not hot. Next night was subzero temps, so I thought to test it, I would plug it in when I went to sleep to see if 8 hours would be too tasking on the little guy. It was. She was just as cold as the rest of the truck. Perhaps mine was defective or maybe I am not mechanically sound enough to apply a silicone pad to a piece of metal. Either way, I am going to advise against this pad for heating anything. Now if you are looking for snake oil? This is your go to, but not a good product for my application of warming fluids.

I bought three of these for my three family cars....one went bad

i purchased them directly from wolverine distributor a couple of years ago. All three heated up fine to the touch. So i assume that the oil was also being heated as stated in their promo. One day i checked to see if functioning by seeing if still hot to the touch - one of the three pads was cold, i checked that it was plugged in and powered up - but still cold. Wolverine quckly honored the warranty and sent me a replacement. So the moral of the story here is that one has to go on 'blind faith' that the pad is actually on and functioning when plugged in. i have no idea when that defective pad went bad. i was plugging it in for several hours and assumed my engine was being coated with warm oil after starting up - NOT.My point is that even though plugged in, and short of getting under the car and touching the pad, there is no way to confirm that it is indeed heating up your oil.

WAY to hot for the oil

DO not buy this, it is WAY to hot to have on the oil pan, oil breaks down at about 120 Celsius or 260 Fahrenheit and this was operating at 200 Celsius. 305 Fahrenheit.

Designed to go on a flat oil pan which is not common

Good alternative to a regular block heater
