Nope, I use mine on my platform bed and its great! Again, if you read the description, it is memory foam with pillow fluffy on the upper part of the mattress and (because its considered a hybrid) it has multiple springs on the lower half. (essentially it is doing what box springs would do, therefore, in my opinion no box springs are necessary!

No, there's no Memory Foam however, it does contain a couple of layers of slow return foam (located in separate layers). The top layer is a breathable layer which I find keeps my body temp comfortable.
