We got this machine to repair our fence. Small in size, but contains two separate functions as gas-less MIG and MMA. My husband is not so professional in welding, so he liked using the synergy mode. The default settings are so easily set up and he just needed to choose the button according to the wire diameter, and the machine provided suitable power for melting the MIG wire. Unprofessional users like us benefits from the synergy mode for sure, although it does also allow the user to adjust settings to their own needs for advanced users.We also tried the MMA function. MMA is much easier to run. But for better welding joint effect, probably would be better to get wire and use the MIG function.A well built machine, small but quite useful!

One of note is the nice section on MIG torch use that is applicable to gas shield bare wire use, and not flux core use. Even with these shortcomings, it still has a lot of good information and is far superior to most made in China welding machine manuals. The specifics of machine operation should be grouped together, and more information provided on manually adjusting amperage and current, and the resultant effects and contrasting this to using the synergetic control where you just adjust the wire speed.Shaking it all out this is a reasonable purchase for the homeowner, RV owner, Van life people, and handypersons. It has a relatively low price point, has the versatility of the two process, is very compact, and runs on 110V. The quality is generally good, and consumable torch parts are available everywhere.Simply don't expect it to substitute for something larger, more powerful, and with more features.

As welder prices have been falling, I've been waiting for a sub $100 mig welder to compete with all the cheap stick welders on the market.This fits the bill. I have a more powerful (but still cheap) 240v MIG welder, and this one is, by comparison, much smaller, lighter, and simpler. Further, it includes stick welding, all in a package not much larger than the cheap stick welders.It is gas-less - flux core only - which is fine for a lot of work. There is typically more splatter in flux core welding than in gas welding, but it's still very much a metal glue gun - you point and shoot. Of course it's more complicated than that, but spend some time welding scraps together and adjusting the settings and you'll find yourself making useful, if not professional, welds in no time.This comes with everything needed to start immediately. As with most of these inexpensive units, though, the gloves, eye protection, and brush/hammer are very, very basic and low quality. They can be used, and you can weld right away without purchasing anything else, but you'll quickly find that a cheap helmet and gloves are still going to be far better than what's included in these kits.If you are new to welding, please, please, please watch a safety video. Welding produces ultraviolet light which can cause burns similar to sunburn on exposed skin, and can severely and permanently damage your eyes. Wear proper protection covering not only your eyes, face, and hands, but all exposed skin. A welding hat and safety glasses inside the welding mask are also good ideas - if you don't you'll eventually find out why most do. Wear cotton or leather clothes or protection so welding spatter (ie molten metal shooting away from the weld site) is less damaging to you. It's a great tool, but like all tools must be used correctly in a safe environment with the correct personal protection equipment to avoid injury and damage to your surroundings.Overall, a good deal on a simple, cheap welding kit that will perform nearly all the welding most diy'ers will ever need. Not a bad piece of equipment for professionals that need a throw-away machine and don't need to produce certified welds.
