Sliding Glass Patio Door Lock, Mortise Type, 45 Degree Keyway, 3-11/16" Screw Holes

After carefully examining the photos and dimensions, I determined this had the correct features to replace the broken mortise latch on our patio door. There are videos on-line explaining the many subtle variations in these locks and after viewing them it wasn't hard to determine that this lock had the correct dimensions, lever orientation, screw type, and cutout shape. It didn't take long to install, but it did take some fiddling to make it latch correctly and easily. Good purchase and learning experience, as these mortise locks don't seem to last more than a few years on high traffic patio doors.

This latch worked beautifully with my Pella door. As others have mentioned, clamp some vice grips on the latch prior to unscrewing the old one to prevent it from falling inside the door. Do the same with the vice grips when installing. 5 minutes to change out. Perfect.

Not having installed a sliding door lock before I wondered how difficult it would be. Removing the old lock was the toughest issue due to a little corrosion on the bolts. Once that was done it was two minutes to install the new lock and check to see it works. The lock was manufactured well.

This part was an exact match for a patio sliding door installed by the builder in 20212 (builder grade). Taking the old one out was a little challenging but after watching a few YouTube videos I made sure to hold the latch with needle nose pliers so it wouldn't fall back into the door jamb. The new one went in a lot easier. Total time about 15-20 minutes and saved me a ton of money.

My niece's husband installed it in a few minutes. When the original lock broke, I couldn't find a locksmith to replace/repair it. One said there are dozens of different locks,sizes & quality from substantial to cheap Chinese made ones . So I looked on Amazon, found this one that looked identical & decided to try it. For once I lucked out! Figured I could return it if it didn't fit - or yard sale it, since it was inexpensive. It works as well as the old one & eventually when the spring wears out on this one, I won't feel intimidated about replacing it. Just bought 2 more to have for spares. The first one lasted about a year, so I want to be prepared.

I replaced a sliding glass door lock that was no longer working properly, as an internal spring had broken. This was relatively easy to install, removing two screws to remove the handles, removing two screws on the door lock, installing the new lock, lining up the keyway and re-installing the handles. In order to get the proper lock, you need to know the thickness of the lock, the angle of the keyway and the distance between the two screws.

This arrived on time and was accurately represented.

My sliding patio door would no longer lock. I was able to match the lock pretty easily with the one on Amazon. The lock looks and feels sturdy like the one I replaced so I'm pleased with it. It was easy to install and took me about 30 minutes. I did have to make an adjustment to get it to latch smoothly but after that minor adjustment it locks and unlocks with ease.
