Q: Can this kit be played while standing comfortably?

While I don't play this kit standing up, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be comfortable to play this kit standing up. It should be straightforward.

Called the costumer service for Tama in the U.S. Great people to call! You need a 16" Tom head rather than a bass drum head. The collars are different between the 2. Evand makes a Calftone Emad 16" tom head I will be trying out.

Q: can metal music be used for this kit?

I play all sorts of music on this kit. If you're gonna play something really heavy though, you may want to mic the kit. Also, if you're looking to do double kick, Please keep in mind that the beaters beat up on the kick drum
