Q: I'm confused....is it waterPROOF or waterRESISTANT? And does it zip up to completely cover the mattress, or does it fit more like a fitted sheet?

We have for one of my sons for his bed and he pees out almost every single night like a flood as he has special needs and is a teen. It has not leaked through. We wash it on cold though and then let it hang to dry (we add vinegar to the wash to get out urine). Maybe that’s why? I will say that we have an encasement on our mattress that zips up and is completely waterproof (although plastic material that crinkles so wouldn’t sleep in alone) though just in case since the sides don’t have waterproofing. I wouldn’t depend on something like this as the only mattress protector for a heavy wetter. I depend on it for small little dribbles or leaks or in case you spill a little water in bed or something like that.

Q: Is ir hot to sleep on?

If you tend to sweat when you sleep do not buy. I am writing this at 4am drenched in sweat.

It has a sturdy plastic on the bottom and terry cloth on top.i was skeptical at first but it has keep the mattress dry every night and my girls pee the bed alot. I am very pleased with this product

Q: can you use it for a cat

It will protect your bed. I have a cat and he will still lay on the bed even with the protector in place, so if your cat likes to sleep with you, this will not stop them. However, if your cat is incontinent or will mark your bed, the protector will keep your mattress clean and all you will need to do is wash your bedding to include the protector. Now, if you are looking for a way to keep your cat off your bed... aluminum foil, cats do not like it and they will stay off your bed. If you have a male cat that sprays the skirt, pin some dog training pads to your bed skirt and put some on the floor. Lightly spritz it with lemon grass (mix a few drops of natural oils into water). Change it out as necessary. Also, I recommend for cats who will not use a box and is looking for a softer place to urinate, dog training pads and to keep the liquid in check try IRIS Dog & Puppy Training Pad Holder to keep the training pad in place. If you have "spots" on your mattress, clean it up with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Spritz the area and then add the baking soda, scrub it in and allow it to sit for a few minutes. The peroxide will get rid of the stain and the baking soda will get rid of the oder. Vacuum when dry. Hope this helps.
