They Work
I used this on 12 gauge steel wire and it made things much easier, as long as the length of wire you are feeding through it is straight.BTW, I found you can "unlock" it to slide it the "wrong" way, but only if you can remove the tension. The trick is to put a paper clip into that little hole above where the wire goes in, then while giving it a nudge the "right" way put moderate pressure on the paper clip. As long as you keep pressure on that paper clip you can slide it the "wrong" way.

Great for a quick fix
These little things are the best for quick fence fixes. One person can easily splice a fence line in seconds. My only recommendation would be that you wrap the excess on the opposite sides to get the best electrical connection.

I love this system!!! You have to buy the $75-90 tensioner. I just installed in the last 2 weeks using the #12 nylon cable and the medium “tensioners.”Works great!The more you use it, the better you get. I highly recommend it!
