Q: Is the litter flushable?

No litter is flushable. Do not flush any cat litter or cat easte, cat waste has a very hogh chance of containing a parasite, the one mentioned in the description that is dangerous to pregnant women (i cant spell it from memory) anyways if u flush it, it will get into the water and can infect and harm other people, and animales and wildlife, as there is no way to to remove or decontaminate this parasite from water even in most water treatment plants. So unless you have no conscience, and enjoy the idea of harming unborn children and animals please do not flush cat waste and litter

Q: How can i open the pail? i see the words "tear here" and i found where to start pulling but i simply cannot get it open. i am afraid to use a knife.

Q: Is the volume the same as the Tidy Cat large 35lb containers?

I believe to be. I have found that it actually lasts longer than the large 35lb containers if you Are a scooper person like me. I find I do not have to replenish or add as much to the boxes after scooping with the light weight. I really do like it better than the original litters.
