Use the salt test in a plastic bag. You can google for details. Just add a bit of water to make teaspoon of salt all wet. I don't know if there's a way to adjust the sensor reading, I found mine within 3%

You must have interpreted the readings incorrectly. Did you press min and see 14, then reset and see 32, then press min again and see 32? If you press reset the min and max are set to the current temp. In that case 14 would be the correct min.

Q: How do you mount this to the wall?

There is a hole, and you can mount it to the wall, and would you please see this back of picture for this item: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61JkeYhU-mL._SL1024_.jpg But there is no screw was included, thanks.
