NOW Foods Calcium Carbonate Powder -- 12 oz

Q: Are all calcium carbonates the same? I would like to use some to make my own chalk paint. Does one brand work better than others?

I purchased the 5 Pound package of Calcium Carbonate by Raw Supply, for $10.47. It will make a lot of chalk paint! Plus, I figure I'll use some of it on the garden too, in the compost pile. I won't use it for health care though, since it isn't labeled "pure" (or w/USP symbol on it), so it could contain traces of lead or other toxic metals. Fine for chalk paint though!

Q: can I use this for making toothpaste?

Yes it will make an excellent toothpaste , here is the formula: for every table spoon of calcium carbonate one table spoon coconut oil one drop oil of peppermint , one drop of oil of spearmint, one tea spoon xylitol or organic honey and add a little water to make it gel like.Not only this formula clean your teeth the best but will naturally disinfect your mouth from bacterium buildup.

Q: How is this vegetarian? Does it contain bonemeal?

The bottle reads that it is a Vegetarian/Vegan product. No other ingredients added.There is no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, shellfish or preservatives.Hope this helps. I purchased this to make chalk paint because it dissolves so well.

Q: Does this contain lead?

It contains elemental calcium from calcium carbonate and then it says "Other ingredients: None" so I assume no lead. It also says non-GMO.
