Had a hard time finding this product for a while, so I'm glad it's back! I love the hold and texture that it gives my hair. A little goes A LONG way so definitely find the right amount that works. I like to work it between my hands and let my hands get a little warm before applying. It makes it easier to work into my hair.

I started buying Kevin Murphy Roughrider for my husband years ago from the salon where I got my hair done. I loved the Kevin Murphy products they used on me so I figured he would like this. And I was right. Then along comes Covid n the salon was shut down. It has since reopened, but during that time, he was running low on this product. I checked Amazon n they had it so I bought it n have continued to purchase it from Amazon ever since bc the price was less than the salon price. The great thing about this product is that a little product goes a long way. Yes, it’s pricey ( for our pocket book) but it lasts a good six months even with daily usage. No flaking, it doesn’t make ur hair look greasy n he can style his hair for whatever life throws at him. It’s a great product that works using minimal effort. I just asked him if he would recommend it to anyone else n he said without hesitation, absolutely!

The Rough Rider hair clay, which includes diatomaceous earth, provides a thicker texture and body for fine hair. It most accurately recreates the ocean beach hair texture more than any hair product I have tried.It has a strong to medium hold and is matte finish. It really is one of the best products I have tried which includes clays, pomades and waxes etc to work for my hair type and give it more texture and body. The scent is subtle but reminds me of Pi cologne. Highly recommend.

As many other reviewers experienced, I received a batch of product that is hard and dried out. The package was sealed in plastic and sealed as expected, but the product is dried out and unspreadable. This product usually is thick but spreads easily on the palm and applies beautifully. This batch is like slightly dried out play dough, and it doesn’t emulsify in my palms no matter how much I rub them together, even if I add a few drops of water.Not returnable, so this was $30 wasted. Pity, because I love this and other Kevin Murphy products. Do yourself a favor and find a barber shop that sells it and buy it there. Not only are you assured a fresh product, but you’ll support a brick and mortar business.

I've ordered about 3 or 4 of these now. A couple of them it seems like the clay wasn't mixed well and there were still large beads like it wasn't melted down or mixed well. It still worked though, it holds so long sometimes I can skip a day or two and it still holds, even after multiple showers.

I have never had a product that makes my hair look this way. Gel, hairspray and pomade make it look greasy or wet. Other matte waxes and pastes fall out of shape quickly. With some sea salt spray to keep volume and some rough rider for hold it can last for 2-3 days. If it gets messed up, it's super easy to fix by just running my hands through my hair.This stuff smells amazing. Like some vanilla/sandalwood beachy scent. 10/10Also you don't need much of the product to get the style. I think this container will last a long time.

I used more affordable products like D:fi, Crew, Bedhead, and Redken until my hair stylist recommended this product. I was looking for a product that offered (1) a strong hold that would last throughout the day but (2) kept my hair flexible and pleasant to touch (instead of clumpy or rock hard). None of the other brands offered this elusive combination, so I assumed it was impossible - until I tried Rough Rider.This product has a strong hold so if you're going for the pompadour look (or any style that requires volume), no problem. And because it doesn't leave your hair clumpy (like some pomades) or stiff (like some gels), your hair actually looks natural all day.Two caveats: (1) this product is almost three times more expensive than other good hair products. So if you don't need volume AND flexibility, then this product may be overkill. (2) Shampoo thoroughly to get all the product out of your hair at the end of the day. If not, expect some unwanted residue on your pillow when you hit the sack.
